My first time in Siem Reap and it was wonderful. The people were friendly and the food was excellent! I arrived and got a Tuk Tuk from the airport to my hotel. My hotel was actually shut down so my driver Ley Tola (La for short) took me to a family run hotel just down the road. This worked out perfectly, it great value and a family run business which are good because I like to support small local businesses. I had nothing planned for my trip to Siem Reap and I was just going with the flow. La ended up being my driver the whole time. We arranged meeting time in front of the hotel and he was always early and waiting for me. For the time he spent taking me to the temples at Ankor Wat, markets, and everywhere else I wanted to go.... it was well worth it. He is a family man and he was always smiling, patient, and I found him very genuine and honest. He started out as my driver and I ended up making a new friend.
